Rachel: Skateboard Update

This is part of what I've been working on finishing during the last few weeks, mainly research and then assembly (lacquer, truck/wheel attachment, testing, adjusting). I built this as a gift for my friend who lives in town but I have maintained a 6 foot distance from for almost a month now, so it's been a nice outlet to get this to her finally.

  1. Stunning imagery Rachel! Questions: What prompted this particular composition? Does the design reflect upon elements your relationship? Aspects of their personality? Some shared memory/history(s)...? I appreciate the intersection of the lines with the edges of the trucks-along with the topographical lines that seem to reference both, elevations & the grain of the wood. Can you post more images???

Gesture II (?) -- Tell Me About Fishing

Typically I hate photographing things that I haven't staged or fully thought through and have never been particularly interested in documentary photography.  Recently my boyfriend and I went fishing and instead of taking photos of the surroundings as I had planned I took these photos of him telling me about how he learned to fish (competitively? Apparently there is such thing as varsity fishing I had no idea).
A Wednesday Poem (For A Young Man In Need Of Color) Following my eyes I keep leading myself to intersections: A rich oasis nestled in the hollow between scrub-mowed corn fields A stream running below a shallow arc in the road A flat horizon pulled taught across an expanse of deep clay suspended within the body of this lake a mustard invitation to the promise of green a red crescent drawn below the eye of a fish out of water… Color found at the edges of things
